JAMB Mathematics Syllabus 2026/2027 & Textbooks

The JAMB Mathematics Syllabus 2026/2027 covers five core areas: Number & Numeration, Algebra, Geometry & Trigonometry, Calculus, and Statistics & Probability, testing skills in computation, logical reasoning, and real-life application, with detailed topics including Number Bases, Sets, Equations, Mensuration, Differentiation, and Probability. Key textbooks often recommended for these topics include those by authors like [Adelodun], [Oguntade], and []Simeon (though specific 2026/2027 editions aren’t out, these authors cover core syllabus content).

If you plan to study a science-, engineering-, or calculation-based course at the university, you must write mathematics in the JAMB UTME.

The exam tests problem-solving skills across topics such as algebra, trigonometry, geometry, calculus, and statistics. Students with a background in further mathematics often find it easier. Success in JAMB Mathematics depends largely on speed and accuracy, as only final answers are required.

Syllabus Sections:

  • Number and Numeration
  • Algebra
  • Geometry/Trigonometry
  • Calculus
  • Statistics

Objective:
The UTME Mathematics syllabus aims to:

  • Build computational and manipulative skills
  • Develop logical and precise reasoning
  • Improve interpretation of graphs, diagrams, and data
  • Apply mathematics to everyday life situations
